Took a mid-week trip to Auburn last week. My visit was anchored by getting to be at Wednesday night Capernum – when will I ever be in Auburn on a Wednesday night?! Flew out Mon – Thurs, stayed at Basden’s, so so many good gifts:

  • Staying with Basden in her house, visiting Esther in her apartment a couple of times – I’m reminded yet again that they have the most encouraging, fitting roommate situations I could imagine. Both sets of roommates are prioritizing their relationships with the Lord and encouraging each other, and they are just so much fun. Such beautiful girls (wish I got roomie pics!!)
  • getting a glimpse of the daily, up-close Auburn routines. Going to class (or not), emptying the dishwasher, managing schedules, taking walks, getting groceries
  • Sarah sharing her blanket with me
  • since it was mid-week, no big games or events, there were no other parents around. I truly focused on my girls and their friends
  • Both girls scheduled time with me for their friends, and we ran into some others. So special, goodness
  • Capernum – I expected chaos, but the kids knew what to expect. Leaders clearly love club and these kiddos. Fun music, worship, precious Sarah gave the talk, then wrapped back up with more worship and pizza. Got to see Biff and Ellen (YL Committee chairs, who come every week and bring pizza!), other adult leaders, and meet all the kids. Esther was able to come with me too
  • Sweet Frog afterwards with all the girl leaders – loved getting that time with them and learning more about this team
  • surprise walk with Caroline, and getting to meet Ellie Kate
  • Basden and Esther right there together. So many shared memories, shared friendships. They still get lots of opportunities to untangle their interactions with such different personalities, but they are also dependent on each other and shaping each other – BOTH of them. What an incredible gift that they are there in Auburn together, thank you Lord
  • got to meet and spend a little bit of time with two pretty special boys… goodness

Search Open Forum DInner #1 – OH MY GOODNESS I’ve never experienced anything like this:

  • Bill Kraftson and his disarming kindness, watching him share in a room of 50; mom and dad here with their neighbors
  • Lettuce Cook catering and Teresa Serves servers – absolutely incredible and made it all work. I landed at DFW after 3:00 on Thurs from Auburn and mom picked me up, Corbin also flew in that day from Nashville. It all worked out with catering and servers. Just incredible.
  •  Mom’s flower arrangements – so helpful and SO gorgeous – she saved the day providing fresh flowers for the event. She went to Trader’s the day before to buy everything and arranged them all at our house
  • The discussion, so fascinating to watch Bill engage with everyone. And people I didn’t expect to talk actually asked questions and engaged, just wow

That Corbin keeps making us do this

Eph 4:1-3 – Therefore I, the prisoner of the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, being diligent to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

Gospel Primer – To the praise of the glory of his grace… Understanding that I am not the ultimate end of the gospel, but rather God’s glory is, actually enables me to embrace my salvation more boldly than I would otherwise. My unworthiness must actually be beneficial to God, because it magnifies the degree to which his grace is magnified as he bestows his saving kindness on me.

Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles… 1 Chron 16:11
